Sylvain Tessier

I like to be responsible for treasury assignments from their initiation right through to the project’s completion. When setting up a new treasury department and recruiting new staff, I enjoy training people in what are often totally new fields and areas for them. That is a great reward and source of satisfaction when this knowledge and skills transfer translates into fully empowered treasurers enjoying a new profession and fresh start in their career.

What is also very interesting, and perhaps unique, with Treasury activity is the ability to quickly measure the impact of your actions and decisions in terms of savings and financial results: higher return on cash, lower banking fees, protection against adverse FX movements for instance will immediately show up in the accounts or in management reporting.

Over the past 15 years, I have been involved with a number of such assignments within international organizations in various European countries. As a Group Treasurer, my experience has been gained with several major European companies that are considered to be the market leaders in their respective sectors.
